Australians I have begged to provide assistance, support, advocacy, care and compassion for Australian children and women trapped overseas by domestic violence and systemic and judicial failures …
Compiled December 2008,
**
Those I have begged for assistance include, but are not limited to, the following mentioned individuals and organisations - see also www.womenwhowant2gohome.blogspot.com letters and posts such as “The Perils of Indifference …”, “Further out of view ... further out of mind…”)
As I had tried my best to be as strategic as possible on our behalf this list includes those who:
- are considered “domestic violence experts” and advocates
- are offered and accept positions and opportunities of power, privilege and influence in the domestic violence sector/industry
- in their political/public life have made pubic statements condemning violence against children and women
- publicly advocated for and supported David Hicks (who left his partner, daughter and son to go and support the Taliban, an organisation that believes in denying women and girls their human rights) and demanded government intervention and advocacy to defend Mr Hicks human rights and insist Mr Hicks receive “judicial fairness” and be safely and immediately returned to Australia
- are considered human rights experts and advocates
- are considered defenders of social justice, responsible and ethical governance
- have used their media role/relationships to speak up about justice, human rights, violence against children and women and women’s issues
Information regarding my communication/contact, by phone, fax, email or mail, with these individuals and organisations can be found in my journal/diary, daily planner, note books where I kept mail details, Post Office receipts and express post tracing numbers, contact management file, mobile phone records, email account, copies of letters, emails, faxes and responses.

In a later correspondence Prof Humphreys informed me “The story you tell is not unfamiliar” and went on to say she would use the information I mailed her begging for her assistance (marked confidential) for “teaching purposes” but once again would not provide us with any assistance, support, suggestions or advocacy.

Hi Merinda
Did you ever receive any help form those you list? I'm asking as I am the administrator of www.freeschapelle.com.au/forum and we are also looking for good people to help us. Most of our approcahes so far have not been answered or if government 'we cannot interfere in the judicial rights of a sovereign country' etc.
I would be interested to see how far you have got so far.
Thanks
Neville Wright
Hi Merinda
"This year Bob Debus MP, Minister for Home Affairs has worked hard to finalise the prison transfers of Schapelle Corby and some members of the “Bali Nine” (See ABC online article “AM – Further talks on prison transfer treaty with Indonesia” by Lindy Kerin www.abc.net.au/am/content/2008/s2177656.htm , Herald Sun article “Prison deal could bring Schapelle Corby home” by Garry Linnell, March 03,2008 – “Schapelle Corby’s hopes of coming home to serve out her 20-year sentence have been dramatically boosted by talks between the Government and Indonesia- … and AAP article “Academic says Corby prison deal difficult” 3rd March 2008). These and other articles document the concern, compassion, resources and advocacy for convicted drug traffickers, (for whom the government has already provided consular assistance and legal funding) from the present and previous governments, mentioning efforts by Alexander Downer, former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Philip Ruddock former Attorney-General and most recently Bob Debus current Minister for Home Affairs, who is credited with finalising these prison transfer deals. "
The above quote shows the smoke and mirrors of the government. For Schapelle Corby, she lanquishes in a third world prison in a cell crowded with other women with no sanitation, no running water and sleeping on the floor with barely enough room to roll over. She survives by her family paying for accommodation and food. They bring in bottled water for her. The federal government has shed its responsibility for all Aussies in smiliar circumstances. They will not help unless pressured by public opinion. The Oz Government does not pay a cent towards Corby's expenses or health issues. Without her family and her supporters she would be 'cactus'!
We understand the terrible position you and other women in your position suffer. We have many Canadians on our forum who may be able to offer some assistance.
Regards
Neville Wright
